meh

according to the error i get instead of it actually trying to launch - this needs X11 preinstalled. Would have been nice to have that included in the Requirements.

The base concepts for this thing are pretty awesome, but it could use a lot more polish and the interface is TERRIBLE. Spent more time trying to figure out how to save one of my "recordings" than I spent enjoying said recording. It needs some serious work, but if that work were put in, Id buy it for five dollars! Oh and what the other guy said, you need X11 for it to work :s

Interesting application. Its certainly very pretty. I didnt mind the controls, but I didnt try to save anything. I needed to press "fn" because my keyboard is set up to use the function keys for their non-function-key use. I think it would be fun if you could just run the simulations without recording anything. Its much nicer than the "galaxy" screen saver over in Linux-land, so it might make for a fantastic screen saver for those of us who care enough about physics to set up the parameters. I would like to see the interface developed a bit so that you could edit the simulations if possible. Very cool for a version 0.5.0, though!

I love the idea of this App, but in practice, it is nearly impossible to use. The parameters you can set to change the simulation are very limited and extremely difficult to access so each time you use the application you see the same collision of particles which whip out of view and then, you can zoom to watch them continue, perhaps forever, away from each other. Not very Mac-like in its presentation or execution.

Boom. Nothing. A crash every launch. 8 core Mac Pro, 16gb RAM, 30" Monitor. Looking closely at the app description, this isnt even a 1.0 app — its version 0.5. Anything less than 1.0 would *never* appear in the iOS App Store. How did Apple let this junk slip by?

Although when you first launch it, you may not understand what exactly is going on, try pressing random keys on the keyboard, and the status message on the left lets you know what you are doing. The stereo-imaging mode (press s) is my favorite by far - it lets you see these images in 3D by looking at the screen in a cross-eyed fashion! Here are some more shortcuts: (fn)-F8 - New simulation (fn)-F6 - Start/Pause the simulation (fn)-F5 - Playback the simulation from the beginning A / Z - Zoom in and out S - Stereo-image mode D / F - Sterio-image depth B / N - Tail length M - Infinite tail length < / > - Tail smoothness – / + - Particle Size [ / ] - Max particle size (when zoomed in) T - Draw Tree setting (??) O - Show/hide screen text - Particle rendering mode L - Blend mode ; / - Tail size X - Toogle fadded tail C / V - Tail opacity / - Color mode ` - Command prompt Q / W - Frame skipping In any case, a very cool app!

just read the controls that maria (below) laid out or press keys and it will tell you what you are doing. the physics are jaw dropping if you find a nice combination if settings. Great fun to play around with and show off to people. Worth the money. Note: I did have one problem where I increased the tail smoothness ( </> ) as far as it would go and the app froze on me. But it has never happened since. Even when I replicated it.

This n-body simulator is amazing! Ive played with a bunch and even written a few in my day. This one beats the bunch. Worth every penny of the 99¢ being asked for! There are so many options that can be manipulated via the keyboard during the simulation. Plus any sim can be played back at a much higher frame rate after its been recorded. (Recording happens by default during the sim.

Partical Simulations with too few parameters

This is pretty lame. Not worth a download. iTunes visulizer is still way cooler.

Jegs25 · 15 years ago

it has a good consept going on here but some times when i do something it doesnt like it just freezes and i have to turn off my mac book to get it back to normal..... i like the app and all and i will keep it hopfully they will come out with an update that will fix it.

GavBu1 · 15 years ago

Awesome, really like it, just make the controlls for the particle modification easier than pressing "random" keys. I find the paritcle controlls confusing, if you can make them more simple that would be great. If you fix this then I will give it 5 starts.`

This looks like a cool app, but everytime I try to open it, it says its not compatible with this version of osx. Im running 10.6.6, and all the other apps from the app store work fine.

Keb911 · 15 years ago

its okay...

its okay, but it only does one thing. dont buy this app if you wanted lots of cool things.

:D

I dont understand what you do, but its pretty and entertaining! :D

Great app, terrible interface

The sheer lack of design of the interface within this app is extremely annoying.

Whitcombs · 15 years ago

I think its a pretty cool gaget, but i have no idea how to work it or what the controls are. but if i figured that out, Id probably have a lot more fun on it...

Dissapointing

This application really dosent make sense, the graphics are cool, but for an application it may be a little to complex. I wouldnt get it!
